Changing your diet with children? HealthPointe participant Rita gives tips on how it worked in her family:
“In the beginning, I was just curious about the HealthPointe program. I started coaching because I wanted to lead a better and healthier lifestyle. I was slim, but there are also slim people who eat badly. You can’t see it from the outside, but you’re not in such good health. For a long time, my family and I ate things like pasta and rice very often. After the meals I always felt uncomfortably full and I was always so tired that I had to take a little break after eating. That’s why I wanted to try what HealthPointe would change. Also, as a mother, it is a great responsibility to show the children how to eat healthier. Of course, the children eat what the parents eat! In the beginning, my son said: ‘I’ll never try that!’ I really made an effort at the time and made really nice salads as a main meal, with meat, cheese and good olive oil in them. After a while my son actually asked me if he could taste it. In the meantime, my children really like to eat salad and different kinds of vegetables and I only cook a little side dish. So we have much less rice, pasta and potatoes overall and more of the healthier foods. My children now eat much healthier than most other children usually do. We also usually make sweets ourselves at home, for example from yoghurt or various kinds of fruit. We take berries especially often because they are so healthy. So I try to show my children this direction so that they have alternatives to chocolate. They also love the smoothies that we prepare together.”
